Dear friends,
When we set off on the epic journey that was our lo-fi tile-based explorer Silk, I had no idea just how long it would take to reach the end. As a tribute to the work of pioneering programmer Mike Singleton, I always knew we had to go the Kickstarter route to get the game made… but in my naïve enthusiasm we promised the moon and found it rather far away.
Offering the game on four platforms now seems insane to me in retrospect, but at the time it seemed like a great idea to garner support. Pragmatically, however, almost all the funding came from the PC/Steam version, and almost all the other backers were happy with a Switch key. But we soldiered on, with the help of our friends at Huey Games, to deliver it on PlayStation and - as of today! - on Xbox too.
It has taken us 5 years and 8 months - we launched the Kickstarter back in March 2019! But not many people can claim to have made a game and shipped it on four platforms for £15,000 ($20,000). And this is basically the only tile-based wilderness exploration game in existence, as far as I know - not to mention, the only game I know of to even mention the Kushan, or that will let you simulate the overthrow the Parthian Empire!
My infinite thanks to everyone who has supported this strange and wonderous project throughout this long and difficult journey.
Until next time,
Chris and the ihobo games crew
Congratulations to you and your team!
Six years of hard work to reach this milestone is certainly something to be proud of.
